Year 6 High School Experience

On the 24th of July the grade 6 students went to Laidley State High School to learn about what next year will be about. Many different schools turned up. First, we learned about high school as different staff members talked about their role in the school. After the staff informed us about the school there was a sausage sizzle. The next activity was Soccer or Newcombe Ball in groups of 8.

Once we finished outside we went back in for a STEM challenge. The challenge was to build a structure that could withstand an earthquake. This tested us on our engineering and teamwork. We went out for lunch once everyone’s buildings were destroyed.

After lunch we asked more questions about high school. When all the students had answers to their questions, we waited to be told the winners. To wrap the day up medals were awarded to the winners of the STEM challenge and the sports games.
A big thank you to Laidley State High School for letting us learn about high school, as well as supplying us lunch and teaching us in a fun way.
